AIRWAY & SLEEP / TONGUE & LIP TIE
Thoughtful evaluation for feeding and oral function at every age.
Schedule an EvaluationA band of tissue under the tongue or upper lip can sometimes limit movement. An evaluation considers function, symptoms, and the whole person, rather than appearance alone.

Illustrations are visual aids; an evaluation considers each person's function and symptoms.

These concerns can have many causes. An evaluation helps identify which support, if any, is appropriate.
Listen, examine, and assess oral movement.
Discuss feeding or other care when appropriate.
Discuss a release only if the individual evaluation supports it.
For infants, we may coordinate with a pediatrician or lactation specialist.
An option when a functional restriction warrants release.
Exercises may be discussed for suitable older patients.
Instructions and check-ins are tailored to the patient.
No. A visible band alone does not mean a release is needed. We consider movement, function, symptoms, and the person’s needs before discussing treatment.
We review concerns, examine the mouth, and assess how the tongue or lip moves and functions. When useful, we coordinate with other care providers.
If an evaluation finds a restriction linked to a meaningful functional concern, the team may discuss laser frenectomy alongside other options. A release does not guarantee a change in feeding, speech, or sleep.
The practice provides aftercare instructions and follow-up. Feeding support or myofunctional therapy may also be discussed when appropriate.
